The tweed dates back to 1800s Scotland where it was used as a true working fabric. It was built to be tough to withstand harsh conditions. The base is a blend of wool and cotton, but no attempt is made to hide the wool's fibrous, almost burlap feel. You know this is not your basic shirting fabric the moment you touch it.
