So much selvedge for the dollar. This is simply a gorgeous selvedge denim from Japan at an insane value.
Gustin jeans made from sanforized raw selvage denim from one of the finest mills in Japan. Venturing into color-on-color selvedge denim is something we're familiar with, but it seems that indigo-on-black is much more rare. It's a color combination that's just meant to be and this version shows you why. It starts with an absolutely saturated, inky dark blue surface. The black weft starts to earn its keep even in raw form by giving the surface an even darker appearance. There is a wonderful formality to this denim that offers you a much different look than traditional color-on-white selvedge. It's great for a slightly dressier look. A solid 13.5 ounce weight and good amount of starch give this fabric a solid feel. The way these blue-black selvedges age is really beautiful. They stay a bit more saturated at the start, but as you put more time on them the white yarn cores start to get exposed, giving you even more depth and character. If you haven't jumped on a style like this, you won't find a better entry point.
This is the same style and quality that was sold in boutiques all over the country for $205+.
