#353 M52 Repro French Serge 5 Pocket - Olive

Our partner mill in Japan has painstakingly and faithfully reproduced this fabric from a vintage garment it acquired. It starts with a deep analysis of the vintage garment - a pair of old French M52 chinos. Now a collector item, this was a hard-wearing, military staple. The mill's goal is to honor each fabric detail, even down to the limitations in production technology at the time. A serge construction is deployed, lending a rugged character and defined twill line on both front and back surfaces. Slightly irregular yarn is used to recreate the wear and detail exhibited in the vintage garment. The surface is left unsinged for a slightly more rustic feel. The fabric even undergoes a much more gentle drying process to help retain the texture. Finally, the classic colors are designed to age more than standard dyed twill to help preserve the vintage character. It's tough to ask for thought and craft in fabric.
