The best selvedge in the world manages to combine the most beautiful ingredients into a complex and rich whole. Japan has done it again in this style, combining artistry with authenticity. It starts with the dye, both in the warp and weft. The warp gets an incredibly dark, inky indigo finish. The weft gets an ultra-rare vivid purple dye, unlike any other style we've run. A peek inside shows off the bold purple. Cuff these, and you can let it show. What's nice is that overall, the effect is more subtle, a soft purple glow to the inky surface. Slubby yarns running throughout help create separation to make the weft show through a bit more. Next comes the big 16 ounce weight and heavy starch. This selvedge feels exactly the way we want a true vintage, rugged pair of raw denim - burly and stiff. Nothing other than a classic red ID would do to finish it off.
