Inspired by vintage coverall denim, one of our favorite mills has taken inspiration from the 1940's to create this special repro selvedge. The 1940's Workers Selvedge is here.
Selvedge is already a throw-back style. It's the way denim was originally made. We particularly like when the best mills in Japan target a specific historic style and create a superior quality reproduction we can enjoy today. That's what we found with this special denim. The inspiration are the utilitarian denim styles uses in the 1940's particularly in coveralls. The intense grain is the defining character of the style. A tight weave with slub yarns creates a all-over grainy look to the style. The white weft is allowed to show through prominently, create a high contrast surface with huge visual texture throughout. Mid-weight with plenty of starch, you can picture this as a true vintage workhorse. We love the ability to experience historically relevant fabric today. The style and function still work.
