Lined Chore Coat - Waxed Dark Oak

The Gustin Chore Coat uses waxed cotton duck from the United States. It starts with our beautiful dark oak waxed canvas. The base color is a rich, darker brown shade. It's more muted and subtle than the livelier brown version we often use which gives it more versatility. Its leather like feel, spot on 13.5 ounce weight and ability to age with grace is just stunning. The waxed coating makes things much more interesting: the fabric ages uniquely to you, just like a finely tanned leather. Each crease, each bend, each event in your life changes the texture and color. It scars and marks as the wax gets rubbed and displaced, becoming slightly lighter in those areas. Add to this base a fully lined body and sleeves and it just gets even better. We're using an update to the Blue Rust flannel, it is no longer being produced. In its place is the Brown Ombre Flannel. It's warm and has a buttery soft feel. It's also light enough to keep the jacket wearable and not too bulky. It’s truly a thing of beauty and will pair really well with crisp denim.

The overall style pays respect to the long tradition of chore coats - functional and understated. As usual, we give our version a more tailored body and make sure the length hits in just the right spot in the middle of your back pockets. It has two full hand pockets on the lower front, each single needle stitched with bar-tacks for added strength. Up top, there is one chest pocket left open and secured with custom Gustin rivets. The other chest pocket receives a flap with button closure. Both are also single needle construction. An inside chest pocket lets you tuck away your wallet or phone. Flat felling is used on main seams and all pockets are clean finished.
