Note: We recommend going up one size in this fabric.
Chambray gained popularity in America as a fabric built for duty - work, the military. While it tends to retain a sense of ruggedness, mills have taken chambray and given it the attention and craftsmanship it deserves. From composition to color to grain, chambrays can be some of the most beautiful fabrics around. These are perfect examples. It starts at the ingredient level - an almost equal blend of linen and cotton. Linen lends breathability, softness and strength. You detect that subtle linen flow and texture when you touch it. Cotton rounds out the base to make it easy to live with every day. Slub yarns add true character which is one of the hallmarks of chambray. It gives the fabric a ruggedness and depth that most twills lack. You can even feel the slubs on the surface. The 6-ounce weight is the sweet spot on comfort. Color might be the biggest draw for us on these styles. We call this version Desert - a rich sand tone that never goes out of style. Subtle, pale green-khaki tones pair with a white weft for complexity.
