Our partner mill in Japan has painstakingly and faithfully reproduced this fabric from a vintage garment it acquired. The French Work Jacket is an icon. The old versions were constructed from one of our favorite fabrics - moleskin. Most notable is the way moleskin combines ruggedness and refinement. It has a history as a utilitarian, hard-wearing fabric and this version instantly builds that personality with real heft. At 12 ounces, it's one of the heavier versions we've offered and you feel it. Burly and thick, the impressively tight weave moleskin is known for lending an indestructible feel. Refinement comes in the form of pure felt-like suppleness, approaching a thick leathery hand. It's a special combination. The matt finish on the black version makes it stand out. Knowing this fabric has a true history driving the details makes it even better.
