Thick rope-like yarns are used to join two layers of cotton gauze into a style big on suppleness, heft and texture. This is a fabric that pays homage to a historically significant sewing technique - the Double Gauze Monster Sashiko.
The inspiration for this style is the traditional Sashiko sewing technique. Used as a functional sewing technique for repairs and for decorative effects, Sashiko is respected for its handmade style, prominent stitching and patterning effects. Here, a Dobby weave is used to recreate the prominent stitch, which adds a prominent textural element to the surface. The truly special part is that this version joins two luxuriously soft layers of cotton gauze. The result is real weight with a sense of plushness and volume. It's a pleasure to wear and breathes well for the warm days. The pure natural color is a summer staple.
Do not launder with oxy/bleach. Do not oversoak or patch may bleed.

"I've a couple of pieces from Gustin. This ivory sashiko is the best. It is a heavy weave, tho' not a heavy cloth per se, it falls beautifully and the stitching is beautifully done. I've worn it once, as it is ivory of course I brushed against something and it has been washed once... in the shower. Not a machine wash Jean IMHO. It's for dress-ups, not for gardening!"
