We've been making simple wallets for ourselves for a while now. They started out as two pieces of leather or denim sewn together, and have evolved over time.
Now we're making them for you. For the leather, we went to The Horween Leather Company in Chicago. They have been in the leather game since 1905, and have developed some of the most durable and beautiful leathers on the market (from Shell Cordovan to the leather used for NFL footballs). For these wallets, we selected their Essex line. Essex is the result of an experiment where Horween asked themselves - “what if we take a top quality cowhide and tan it with the same liquor we use to tan shell cordovan?". The result is a beautiful, durable leather that has a particularly rich coloring. We're using their natural color for these - it starts off with a medium-light brown, that will darken and age beautifully with time. It's finished off with a stamped Gustin logo in the lower right-hand corner. The simple wallet has one slot on either side, and a large slot in the middle.
This kind of quality cardholder usually retails for $55-95. If we had to sell it at retail and guess which style you wanted, we would be stuck doing the same. Fortunately we’re not, and that means you get a top quality product for a radical price.
