This is the Gustin Classic Tote - a completely new bag for 2017.
Our goal with this bag was to create something versatile that could fit seamlessly into a wide range of activities. Our tote is clean and functional. You can use it as a work bag with your laptop, as a carry-all on a run to the farmers market or as a quick weekend getaway bag. This one has more pockets than the previous totes we've made, giving it ample storage room and making it easy to organize. The main body is open, making it super easy to access. On the exterior of each side there's another pocket - perfect for storing a notebook, wallet or newspaper. Inside of the bag you have one large open pocket, and a small divider for pens and business cards. The Gustin and Horween logos can be found on the interior of the bag. The straps are made from beefy Horween latigo leather, and have just the right heft to pair with the rugged canvas. Our tote is made from heavy-duty, plain weave, water repellant waxed cotton canvas sourced in the USA. Although similar in construction to our Trucker jacket fabric, this canvas is much heavier. Coming in at 18oz, it's built to last and gives the tote real sturdiness. Waxed canvas is beautiful from the start and ages gracefully. The waxed coating allows the fabric to age uniquely to you, and is water resistant. Each crease, bend, event in your life changes the texture and color. It scars and marks as the wax gets rubbed and displaced, becoming slightly lighter in those areas. It’s truly a thing of beauty. The leather straps used on our tote comes from the Horween Leather Company in Chicago, Illinois. They're the oldest leather tannery in the United States, and make the best leather on the market. We're using their 8/9oz full-grain latigo leather for these handles. It's a leather used predominantly for saddlery, but the look and durability pair perfectly with the waxed canvas. We worked for a very long time to find the right people to help make Gustin bags. The group of craftsmen we finally went with have been making bags in California longer than I’ve been alive. It’s in their blood. Yes, it’s their job, but it’s also their hobby and passion. They eat, breathe and live making some of the finest bags in the country.
