Waxed canvas meets our new Engineer Jacket to form a style that will age as beautifully as it starts. This is the Waxed Canvas Engineer Jacket in Brown.
For this version, it was a no brainer that we would return to the fabric that started our entire jacket line many years ago - waxed canvas. There are few fabrics aside from raw denim that are this beautiful from the start and age gracefully. This style uses waxed cotton duck from the United States. It has a plain weave and solid 13.5oz weight to give it good body while not feeling stifling in jacket form. The waxed coating makes the style a true work of art: the fabric ages uniquely to you, just like a finely tanned leather. Each crease, each bend, each event in your life changes the texture and color. It scars and marks as the wax gets rubbed and displaced, becoming slightly lighter in those areas. It’s truly a thing of beauty.
Our Engineer Jacket is an exercise in refinement and turning the crank until we had perfected each element. The first step was dialing in fit. We retain the classic roots of the shape while giving it a solid tailoring. The body is just right - fitted but not tight. The sleeves are clean and not overly wide, enhancing the sharpness of the silhouette. The classic point collar is there and we passed through countless shapes until we landed on the perfect length. The front hem bottoms are gently curved. We kept the classic 4 pocket front that defines this style and really lined up pocket size and placement.
"I wanted to tell you how much I love the rainbow nep natural t-shirts. After over a year of trying to find my everyday t-shirt, this is finally it. I have four of them now and they are basically all I wear."
