A unique combination of big weight, luxurious melton wool and a surprising construction style make for our favorite wool pant of the season—the Melton Wool Jersey 5 Pockets.
Big weight wools are some of our favorite styles. The color is usually gorgeous. The wool adds a level of character you rarely see in standard fabrics. The cold weather protection is amazing. They are also what we would certainly call a hard-wearing, rugged fabric. Thick and burly, yes, high on comfort, not usually. They can be dense like a piece of leather. If we could keep all the elements we price about big wool and have more movement for comfort, that would be our dream wool. We finally found our dream in Japan. One look at the pictures shows you it has all the classic elements we love about the best melton wool - the heft, the color, the texture. The transformation comes in the form of a jersey knit construction. Although you won't know from looking at it, this construction adds stretch and movement to make these pants as great to wear as they are to look at. Finally, the puzzle is solved.
