A rare blend of fibers from classic wool to Alpaca, retro colors and a shaggy vintage finish make for one of our best shirts of the season. This is the Vintage Wool Alpaca shirt.
This is a find. Japan has put a stellar spin on some of the rarest and most beautiful fibers to create the ultimate vintage shirt. It starts with the raw materials. A classic wool comprises the majority. We've run that before, but not with the rare addition of Alpaca. The result is a beautifully plush feel. You sense the rugged wool roots, but they are smoothed and softened out by the Alpaca. There is a volume and suppleness. The physical texture is wonderfully organic, with long fibrous strands rising from the surface, lending a shaggy finish.. Finally this great foundation is treated to a classic plaid pattern with old-school color combinations of brights and earth tones. Be ready for a standout garment.
This shirt is sewn up in our new Rugged style. It's designed to be the perfect style for our heavier, more rustic fabrics we run. It's a bit more casual, without being over the top. This style is really set off by two key design cues: a perfectly sized collar without buttons and two clean button closure, rounded chest pockets. These two elements lend the style it’s more casual look while their clean implementation keeps the shirt versatile. A simpler back yoke replaces the box pleat and locker loop of our Classic style. Intricate stitching tacks down the collar stand. The Rugged style inherits the same core fit block from the updated Classic style. The moment we sewed up some flannels and heavy jacquards in this style we knew it was right.
Buttons downs that are made in the USA using our quality of material and construction are typically priced at $175 to $300. The Gustin model, with your support, lets us do much better.
"My 1968s came in the mail yesterday…They're amazing! From the fit (thank you for all the hand-holding!) to the detailing, I'm blown away. Just tremendous quality at any price point, but the value here is off the charts."

"I wanted to tell you how much I love the rainbow nep natural t-shirts. After over a year of trying to find my everyday t-shirt, this is finally it. I have four of them now and they are basically all I wear."
