Short sleeve button ups are a true mark of warm weather. When we make them out of gauzy-soft, Japanese seersucker, add in a classic gingham pattern, and offer them for only $69, you have the perfect summer shirt.
The short sleeve button up occupies a unique spot in our warm weather attire. It has a nice balance of formality from the button up shape with the sheer comfort of short sleeves. It's the type of shirt you can wear comfortably with shorts, a faded pair of raw denim or a clean pair of khakis. The look feels right. Ours is clean and properly constructed from a perfect collar, to a bottom hem that can be worn untucked, to nicely fitted sleeves.
The fabric we've selected really makes these shirts. It's a small check gingham pattern, always timeless, woven in Japan. If you're after warm weather credentials, seersucker is hard to beat. It's a weave that's purpose built to keep you cool. The weave causes areas of the fabric to pull together. This creates a beautifully textured surface that increases airflow to the skin, keeping you cooler. This 4 ounces version has great texture and is gauzy-soft. This soft, almost faded sky blue version is a great touch if you want an easy color palette that fits right in with a care-free summer day.
Our short sleeve button-up fits just like the long sleeve. It shares the same beautifully tailored body, not too slim, but definitely fitted. High armholes keep the body lines clean. A very gently scooped bottom hem that works wonderfully un-tucked or tucked. A no-button collar that’s perfectly sized to sit well. We removed the back pleat and locker loop, adding to the minimalist and casual nature of this style.
We labor over every construction detail. Extensive single needle stitching is used throughout. All our closures are made from true mother of pearl. The front placket is also pleated, made the right way, using a true two piece construction. The feel is more substantial and the effort higher, but it's the right way. An angular chest pocket completes the front.
Button-up shirts that are made in the USA using our quality of material and construction are typically priced at $175 to $300. The Gustin model, with your support, lets us do much better.
