Cognac Slip On

This Gustin slip on is made of suede from one of the finest tanneries in Tuscany, Italy. For those of you looking for a casual summer time shoe, this is the version for you. We found just the right material to make it work. It starts with the finest suede as a base. To produce suede of this quality, the skins are abraded 4 separate times allowing the artisans to get the thickness precise and the texture super plush. Suede gives this slip on a luxurious feel while the weight is substantial enough to give them sturdiness. The natural texture of the suede gives the surface of the shoe more interest - you just want to touch them. Next comes the color. It's a light shade of brown that we call cognac. The skins are dyed in drum rolls twice to create a color that is intense and completely saturated in the skin. A crisp white Margom sole and black elastic on the tongue serve as bits of contrast. The natural calfskin lining peeks out of the inside of the shoe and feels great when you have them on. The overall look is a bit more toned down than our canary and azure versions and is a great base shade to pair with just about anything.

Our sneakers are constructed by hand in the Tuscany region of Italy by a group of craftsmen who have been making shoes since 1901. They have perfected their craft to the point where the industry's biggest and best names, including Lanvin, use them for production. All leather is die cut one hide at a time. Single needle stitching is used to construct the uppers. Custom lasting creates the unique Gustin shape. An Italian-made Margom rubber sole is cemented internally and reinforced with 360° stitching to the upper. A calfskin-lined removable footbed is stamped with the Gustin logo. Elasticated gussets provide a snug and comfortable fit. These are time honored techniques taken to the highest level.

Gustin slip ons run a little big. If you typically wear a US 9 or EU 42 in dress shoes or Converse Chuck Taylors, or measure 9 on a Brannock device, we recommend ordering a US 8 in these.
