#75 Okayama Standard

"This is my second Gustin pair after the 1968. It took me all of one minute of breaking in that first pair using Sally O'Malley kicks and stretches to decide I wanted another one, and the Okayama was a logical choice. It arrived just in time for my Christmas trip to Chicago, and all I could think of was all the honeycombing that 8+ hours of sitting in Economy Class would bring. I'm really happy with it -- the fabric is beautiful and the piece is just so well crafted overall. I could be happier, though -- just a couple of minor quality situations on the left leg. 1) About 1" of stitching on the outseam failed and was coming undone, which led me to notice that 2) from the knee down, the leg was about 3/16" tighter than the right. I let Customer Service know about issue #1 and was taken care of right away with a reimbursement for repair. Issue #2 is more of an observation than a problem. Still giving it 5 stars."

"This is the fabric that you recommend to people that are looking to get into selvedge denim. It is the perfect weight and is an excellent fader. This is my third pair of Okayama Standards. I have Slim, Straight and now a Vintage Straight. The Vintage Straight cut is my new favorite. I was looking for a straight that wasn’t too baggy or too tapered and that had a higher rise. This is the highest rise that Gustin offers and it is great. The rise is really the key aspect of this cut. It is so comfortable and offers excellent coverage. I’m excited to see these after they fade. I suspect they’ll age wonderfully, just like my other Okayamas."

"These are a lovely pair of jeans! I love the look, feel and texture of this pair of selvedge denim. I'm not sure how well they will hold up, or what the fading process will look like in a year, but I'm very happy with my purchase. After following the size guide and having my wife measure my waist I was pretty confident that a 34 skinny would be the right size. They ended up being a bit too tight in the top block and calves. In the past I would have settled for this knowing that the jeans would eventually loosen up. However my approach to selvedge denim has changed after months of reading reddit posts and watching youtube videos. After a few returns I finally settled on a 35 skinny which is about 2-3 sizes above what I would wear with other non selvedge brands (Levis, Boulder Denim, etc). The Gustin CS team have been an absolute pleasure to work with! Eric helped me navigate the return process with ease and I would happily order from Gustin again."
