Today is part two of the Japan Herringbone story. We just couldn't resist sewing this fabric up in our classic Trucker Jacket. The results speak for themselves.
Our Trucker Jacket was the first jacket we launched at Gustin and holds a special place in our hearts. It's a true classic and speaks to the style we try to maintain here. The shape is iconic and always recognizable. It has a ruggedness to it, while still remaining a great everyday wear because of its clean fit. It's also a great jacket to showcase some of our favorite fabrics. This Japan Herringbone is a great example. The 10 ounce complements the true roots of this jacket. It feels sturdy and solid on, just as a Trucker Jacket should. The suppleness of the fabric keeps it wearable and fitting right. The weave adds a huge level of complexity. You expect a traditional canvas look, but instead you see much more texture and depth. The herringbone lends a slightly refined note which plays nicely in contrast to the jacket styling. It's really just a match made in heaven. This version has a khaki base that's bright, true and timeless.
The overall style is inspired by the classic Type III Trucker Jacket. We give it a more tailored body and add a bit of length in the sleeves so it doesn’t ride up. It's designed to hit right at the waistline for a compact look. It has two side entry single welt pockets on the side and double flap pockets up top. Each flap is secured with our custom Gustin hardware. We also enlarged the interior chest pocket so that it can accommodate larger phones or wallets. Another new addition was the chambray lined cuffs and pockets bags, it just adds to the comfort of the garment. Two side buckles on the waist band are secured by custom buttons. Extensive flat felling is used on seams and all pockets are clean finished.
Jackets like ours that are made in the USA using our quality of material and construction are typically priced at $260 or higher. The efficiency of the Gustin model, with your support, lets us do much better.
