Our most versatile jacket, the Gustin City Coat is the perfect combination of rugged roots with a touch of refinement. Neither a traditional blazer, nor a chore coat, this jacket works when you want to go casual or you need a bit more formality. It’s our most intricately constructed and fitted piece of outwear yet and we have some amazing fabric lined up.
Gustin City Coat made from cotton duck canvas from one of the finest mills in the United States. Duck canvas is the perfect material for this coat. It starts with the heft. At 12 ounces this canvas is substantial. It’s warm and dense, but still supple enough to let you move well and is highly breathable. All this adds up to a coat you can wear indoors or out. The plain canvas weave lends a touch of ruggedness to the slightly more refined look of this coat’s overall design. This canvas hits all the right notes to serve as your staple coat.
We went all out on construction and fit for this coat. We love our Truckers and Chore Coats, but they tend to be squarely in the casual realm. This style combines the best workwear elements of a chore coat with the more refined fit and style cues of a blazer.
Refinement starts with fit and this is our most tailored style yet. It has a slim silhouette that tappers nicely through the body. The sides are darted to help create shape and a lend a nice visual texture. The arms are slender and slightly curved which enhances the crisp look. The shoulders are fitted to create a clean appearance at the top with no excess fabric bunching. Formal lapels lend a refined look while the inclusion of four patch pockets adds a more rugged counter balance. Construction details on this coat were a priority for us. There is significant single needle work to set the lapels and collar perfectly. Inside seams are cleanly finished. There are two single needle sewn interior pockets, each secured with our custom shaped and engraved corozo buttons. There are four patch pockets, each edge set first and then top stitched and secured with bar tacks. This extra setting step ensures there is no excess material coming up around the pockets.
Jackets like ours that are made in the USA using our quality of material and construction are typically priced at $260 or higher. The efficiency of the Gustin model, with your support, lets us do much better.
