Our selvedge apron started out as a thank you gift for some local artisans - our close friends at Blue Bottle Coffee and Del Popolo Pizza. After having a few made up and seeing the durability, functionality, and stains told a story of a day's work, we knew we had something special.
We're using a special fabric for this batch. Once it's gone it's gone. This is one of the coolest and rarest fabrics we've come across - an indigo dyed ripstop canvas that has a unique look and function. This fabric is about rugged construction paired with vintage dye. The base is a solid, 8 ounce ripstop canvas. Ripstop brings an enhanced level of toughness to the fabric. It is designed to resist tearing by incorporating reinforced threads into the weave in a grid pattern. Making an already rare style even more exclusive is the use of indigo dye. It's a perfect match for this fabric as the ripstop grid presents raised channels which are the first to have the indigo dye rub off. The transformation through wear is very special as you can see from the photo.
Whether you are a bar back, a grill master, or you just plain like to tinker this apron is for you. The two front pockets mirror those you would find on our jeans and are trimmed with the selvedge ID. The upper utility pocket is marked with a Gustin leather patch. Finally, the solid brass hardware allows you to adjust the fit to your liking while adding a bit of flash. We love these aprons and we are sure you will too.
