A black on white cousin to the indigo linen we recently ran, this is a perfect blue alternative when you want a rare a beautiful shirt suited perfectly to the summer.
This style uses linen/cotton cloth from one of the finest mills in Japan. Summer means we get to experiment with some new compositions. Linen is a go-to, but we always like it to have a strong, complex character. Start with a tight herringbone weave. This weaves serves ideally to highlight a jet black warp on crisp white weft. The compactness of the weave helps create an black hue that's slightly lifted in vibrancy from the white contrasting thread. Finally . . . what a feel this shirt has. With a 55% linen composition, you get the wonderful drape this fiber is known for as well as it's reputation for staying cool in warmer weather. This is simply an outstanding summer shirt when you're tired of plaids and checks and want a stellar denim or chino companion.
Our fit starts with a beautifully tailored body, not too slim, but definitely fitted. High armholes keep the body lines clean. The length hits just right so it looks great always. Scooped out sides give the untucked look a bit of extra style. A traditional button down collar is secured with two side buttons and one back and has a nice soft roll.
We labor over every construction detail. Extensive single needle stitching is used throughout. All our closures are made from true mother of pearl. A finely folded locker loop sits over a box pleat on the back yoke. The front placket is also pleated, made the right way, using a true two piece construction. The feel is more substantial and the effort higher, but it's the right way. An angular chest pocket completes the front. Our cuffs are double button with rounded corners.
