A special bi-fold - Horween brown meets veg tan.
The Bifold is a slightly more complex iteration of the minimalist simple wallet for the guy who needs to carry a bit more cash. For this version of the Bifold, the office was split. We loved the feel and character of the Horween Chromexel, but were also drawn to the break in process of the Veg Tan. Our compromise was to use both. The perfect bifold - supple Chromexcel on the outside with a crisp Veg Tan contrast within, 100% hand stitched in the USA.
Our bifold is very streamlined. It has two interior pockets for your credit cards and one money slot to hold all of your cash (if you only use Benjamins, you'll be able to fit $1700 in this beauty). After making a large number of samples, we decided our first offering had to have the most attention to detail and care in construction possible. This version is 100% hand stitched. A craftsman sits with each wallet and hand sews each piece using extra thick thread. Although hugely more labor intensive than the more typical machine stitched wallets, the result is significantly cleaner simply beautiful. Additionally, we burnish the edges of this wallet with beeswax, and it's finished with a Gustin stamp on the inside.
For the leather, we went to The Horween Leather Company in Chicago. They been in the leather game since 1905, and have developed some of the most durable and beautiful leathers for sale today (from Shell Cordovan to the leather used for NFL footballs). For these wallets, we selected their Chromexcel line. Chromexcel is the original pull-up leather; using time honored techniques and formulas that were developed nearly 100 years ago. It's produced using a bark retannage from a proprietary recipe, and then genuine hot stuffed with a secret blend of natural oils and greases. Chromexcel is characterized by a rich pull-up in full aniline, hand rubbed finishes. Made to this day with old world craftsmanship, modern Chromexcel carries on a long history of superior comfort and durability.
These wallets usually sell in stores above $100. If we had to sell at retail and guess which style you wanted, we would be stuck doing the same. Fortunately we’re not, and that means you get a top quality product for a radical price.
Made by hand in the United States.
